When you think of the person who hurt you, can’t you feel the pain somewhere in your body?
Maybe your stomach hurts, your throat tightens, or your head aches?
Physically, the emotional pain you felt when someone hurt you may stay in your physical body.
Dr. Bruce Lipton in his book, “The Biology of Belief,” notes that human cells can be either in defensive mode or growth mode, but not both. Holding on to pain without forgiving puts our cells, and therefore our bodies, in defensive mode. This is done through our bodies electrical, hormonal, and chemical processes which are working to protect us.
When we hold on to the pain, we are physically making ourselves sick. Forgiveness can allow our bodies to release the emotional grip of pain and thereby allow our bodies to grow healthy.
Without the concrete steps of HOW to forgive, our lip service to our pain may not be enough. After forgiving, the somatic methods like Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT/ Tapping) can seal the pain.
You are worth recovering from your emotional and physical pain through forgiveness and tapping.
