The Sacred Importance of Self-Care

By Paula Dice

Self-care is not selfish, it is sacred. There are journeys in life that no one else can take for you, roads that must be walked alone, and moments when your healing becomes your most important work. While love and support from others are beautiful gifts, the truth is that no one can nurture your body, soothe your mind, or repair your spirit the way you can.

In a world that pulls us in a thousand directions with constant notifications, endless responsibilities, the pressure to always be “on,” self-care becomes more than just a luxury. It is a necessity. Our bodies and minds are wired with a built-in survival system: the fight-or-flight response. When stress overwhelms us, this system floods us with energy to escape or confront danger, but when we stay in that state too long, it weakens our body and spirit.

Self-care is the counterbalance. It is the pause that allows your nervous system to reset, your heart to soften, and your soul to breathe. Angels stand ready to help you release stress, to surround you with calm, and to remind you of your worth. They are always ready to walk beside you as you learn to care for yourself more deeply.

Self-care is not about escaping life, it’s about strengthening yourself to live it fully. It’s an act of love, a form of healing, and a declaration that you matter. The journey inward may be yours alone, but it leads you back to the most powerful source of strength you’ll ever know: yourself.

Blessings and love,
Paula
