August is one of four defined ‘transition months’ – the months prior to a new season beginning. If you have someone in your home who is a student, this month you’re preparing for their school. If you have holiday events, September is the month you are planning and securing dates. If you are planning future travel, August is the month you coordinate all the moving parts.

How challenging is it to transition between seasons? We want to stop time and enjoy the current moments while preparing for the future in a way to make those times pleasurable as well.

Common knowledge is to stop and smell the roses, take in the aroma of today. However, in the back of your mind, “I wonder how to prepare for the times the blooms are done – how do we enjoy these moments?”

August is still hot as the summer sun decreases its last rays. We bask in the warmth of family, fun, and festivities knowing what is around the corner – September! We enjoy our last few days of relaxation while mentally preparing for the upcoming months of activity.

Take the time to stop and reflect. Sometimes we are so focused on where we are headed, we forget to look back to see how far we’ve come.

August is the perfect month for reflection. Remembering all the fun, the friends, the great times over the past few months.

Trust me, you will have plenty of time to prepare for fall. And taking these last few summer days to relax will make the next season easier to glide through.

Go ahead, take one more quick stay-cation, binge watch another fun show, look up other relatives to visit. Enjoy this last month of summer.
