The change in temperature during this time of year signals the change in our calendar as well.

As we cool off, we reflect over last year’s hot mess and plan for next year’s shining goals.

Cooling can be cathartic – slowing down our pace, taking deep breathes, and just chilling.

Yet this part of the year also programs expectations and hurriedness – at least from the outside.

We can control our environment. We can decide what we will and won’t attend to.

We can decide to chill, to take deep breathes, to wait a moment or two.

We can turn away from outside influences, turn inside instead to plan the coming months, to dream.

Whether we run the race to the end of the year or decide to take the time to chill, it is for us to decide.
